Search U.S. Trademarks
Search U.S. federal trademark records for free on TMScope. Enter your proposed name below and see exact matches instantly, plus a count of similar marks that might conflict with your filing.
A trademark search checks whether your proposed business name, product name, or brand already exists in the U.S. federal trademark register. If someone else has registered or applied for a similar mark in a related category, you could face a refusal, an opposition, or a cease-and-desist letter after you file.
Running a search before you invest in branding, domains, and marketing materials saves you from expensive surprises. The earlier you check, the cheaper it is to change course.
Use the free search below to check for exact matches in federal records. For a deeper look at phonetic similarities, common-law conflicts, and risk analysis, upgrade to a full preliminary screening.

What the results mean
An exact-match search tells you whether a mark with the same or nearly identical spelling exists in the federal register. If matches appear, pay attention to the status (live, pending, or dead) and the goods/services class. A live mark in your category is a strong conflict signal.
No exact matches does not mean the name is available. Phonetically similar marks, visually similar marks, and common-law usage (like unregistered business names) can all create conflicts. The USPTO evaluates “likelihood of confusion,” not just identical spelling.
When to upgrade to full screening
If you plan to file a trademark application, an exact-match search alone is not enough. TMScope’s preliminary screening adds phonetic matching, similar-mark detection, common-law signals, risk assessment, and plain-English analysis. It catches conflicts that a simple name lookup misses.
